I agree that it is not possible to make any 100% pre-configurated map as the variables are crossing each other in too many ways. Calculating MBT = not possible, just like finding peak pressure / max tourge area and setting(retard) MBT after this. Setting an ignition right is not for any calculator.boost junkie wrote:Yeah, 5 degrees is very retarded. Honestl I wouldn't even mess with a timing calculator. Way too many variables. Just tune for detonation threshold until you can put it on a dyno. Then tune for the min timing that produces the best torque (often referred to as MBT).
Having this in mind the goal of this configurator is to give an estimated ignition map as a start-up map, based on the factors Valves/cyll., CR, Octan, Temperature, Squish and water injection.
You are going forced induction with CR 10:1 This is not the best CR more like the N/A way. Plus you are average air cooling and 95 octan fuel. However, som corrections had to be made and a new version has now been uploaded with corrections to 4 and 5 valves heads.Jon k wrote:My generated map looks a little funky - its telling me to run 5 degrees of advance at 180 kpa
4v per cyl
10.0:1 cr
<88mm
95 oct
Average temp
Squish 4v
no WI
5 degrees is very retarded isnt it?
If you to day are going 180 kpa with 10:1 in CR I would very much like to see your ignition map. Thanks in advance
I am running only 9.5 psi intercooled. I put 95 RON in there because I figured it would create the safest map.JakobM wrote:You are going forced induction with CR 10:1 This is not the best CR more like the N/A way. I don't have my map on hand because my laptop battery is dead, I am at home from school (leaving in like an hour!!) and I have no power plug for laptop. BUT I do know that I have my max advance @ 100kpa of about 19 or 20 degrees and as soon as I hit boost, I drop down to 12 advance flat. Its a horrible tune I know, but its working for now.JakobM wrote:Tanks alotJon k wrote:I am running only 9.5 psi intercooled. Thanks in advanceOk, so you are running 165,5 Kpa intercooled with CR 10:1 - Do you have any current ignition map you could poste or just inform about max advance at your 165,5 Kpa / 9,5 psi. It would give valuable information about high CR under medium/low boost. (all asuming that no pinging is present)
