CBR600F4i .msq needed

Post by Jason_W20 »

I have been lurking here for a few months and doing a lot of research. I am now building a harness and working on a preliminary tune for my FSAE car. I am using a 2002 Honda CBR600F4i engine, it has:
12-1 crank wheel
Wasted spark with a Bosch Igniter
Stock coil on plugs
Stock injectors
Mostly Stock sensors with a GM MAP sensor and an Innovate LC-1 Wideband

I will be trying to start it up in a few weeks and I am looking for some .msq's to use as examples for setting up my base tune. I have seen a person or two post about this engine in the past, so I know there are some out there running with similar setups. If anybody would be so kind as to post there functioning tune, it would be a great help for me.
Thanks for all the great info on this board and and I hope to hear from someone soon.

I do not have a complete MSQ available because I am using this engine to do specific testing. However I will post some of the settings, this should help get you at least running:

Req_fuel = 8 ms
Control - SD - but I am testing with Synchromap, you may want to run alpha-N
Inj per cycle - 2
Inj staging - Alt
Stroke - 4
N cylinders - 4
Port injection
4 injectors

Base ignition - I ground off one tooth on the 12-tooth wheel, not using cam sync:
Trigger Offset- -38 degrees (you have to use a negative number here for dual-spark mode, its the global advance/retard)
Skip pulses - 4
Predictor - last interval
Ignition input capture - Falling
Cranking trigger - calc
Coil charge - std
Spark output - high

Dwell = 3ms

Advanced ign:
Trig wheel teeth - 12
Missing teeth - 1
Skip teeth - 6 (fire once per 180 degrees, this is 6 teeth on a 12-teeth wheel)
Delay teeth - 4 (you will need to play with this)
Dual spark option - Single Crank Wheel

This is enough to get you started and running, you need to adjust the VE and advance to suit your setup. I believe that for FSAE you need to run a restrictor and hence a single throttle body and modified manifold to convert from ITB to common plenum (I think). This, along with the fact that I am running Synchromap and ITB, the VE values are totally different.

Thank you for posting this. Hopefully I will be able to get running using some of these settings. I am actually running ITB also, the car is just for my personal use and I don't have the $$ to fabricate an intake plenum/restrictor right now, so I will be running the stock bike ITB's. I think that's one of my problems actually, most of the Microsquirt knowledge for this motor is from restricted cars that have very specific requirements. This info should be more than enough to get me going though, so thanks again!
I attached a picture and I will keep this thread updated when I get it started.

I'm also running an F4i, stock injectors and coils, with Bosch coil drivers. I tried the settings above and still cannot get more than a few pops. I'm going to pull plugs and put some fresh ones in, but here's my msq if anyone wants to check it out and see if I'm missing anything, or have anything completely wrong. I'm running a restricted FSAE intake, btw. But I can't imagine that would make that much of a difference in just getting the thing to fire up.

Nevermind, got it running on this setup:

I think the main problem was the offset for output #2 in advanced ignition. I had it as 180 before, guess uS knows to do that automatically.

I just have to say, open exhaust ports are awesome because you can see the exhaust valve seats as the engine is running :D

Sorry Mikey I missed your post entirely. Good to hear you got your car running, and I may reference your msq when I go to try mine out.

I actually have a question for the board while I'm here though. I am looking for some help wiring it all up, I'm not too confident in my wiring abilities and I am currently preparing for a cross country move and a return to school.

I am looking for a shop in the Ohio/Michigan area with Microsquirt/Megasquirt wiring experience. Does anyone have any suggestions?
