definitive MS2 settings for edis

Post by jonfx4com »

Can anyone give me the definitive settings for ms2 with edis for :

ignition input capture
cranking trigger
spark output (does this one matter?)

There seems to be conflicting reports of what it should be eg

http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?t=15211

Which suggests that it should be inverted in some cases.

Jon,
As far as I knew, ignition output should always be inverted for EDIS. In my case, WITHOUT the ignition output invereted, timing control did not work (although, the engine will still run, EDIS will just run in limp home mode @ 10deg BTDC, so don't be fooled just because the engine is running!)

Cranking triger I left default (Calculated) chaning this setting didn't seem to have much of an effect. Ignition input capture = Falling Edge.

Thanks Justin, I at least know what to look for if the edis is stuck in limp road when I run it up at the weekend.

I post the my results back and the we can figure out why the instructions say invert and yours only works without. Weird eh?

Jon,
No problem, let me clarify though, mine only works WITH invert... I think you'll find that EDIS requires inverted mode to work.

Best of luck!

definitive MS2 settings for edis

I think some early EDIS instructions were advising a different way of
wiring the opto isolator such that the trigger to the CPU happens on the
opposite edge of the PIP signal.

In addition, some beta MS2s had a transistor on board for the SAW signal
which resulted in an extra inversion at the output so there are could be a
couple of variables at play. Best way to figure out if it's correct is to
look at both PIP and SAW at the EDIS on a scope. If I recall, the SAW
signal should be positive-going and start a few tens of us after the
rising edge at the back end of the PIP signal.

OK, definitive answer for a production non beta v3 board without high current driver is inverted for spark out. What I did note was that the drawing of how to connect your edis seems to be wrong. I had to reverse connections 10 and 12 as it was firing the wrong coils.
