One question, I seem to be getting a Ignition advance reading of around 90 degs from MS, somehow this don't seem right, static timing is set at 6 degs and when running with vacuum disconnected about 11-12 degs. (Idling a bit fast at the moment - strobe)
Anyone got any comments as to why I'm getting this reading
Using MSII V3 code 2.36 MT 2.25
Thanks

Darrens,I seem to be getting a Ignition advance reading of around 90 degs from MS,
Have you done the trigger wizard timing calibration? <http://www.megamanual.com/megatune.htm#og>
Are you seeing 90 degrees in MegaTune or on a timing light? I suspect you are seeing this in MegaTune, that you have the trigger offset set very high, and that MegaSquirt is actually sparking the next cylinder from the one it thinks it is (since V8's fire at 90 degree intervals).
Lance.
Maybe thick!! When using the trigger offset tool in MS, I have previously set the timing with the timing light (strobe) to manufactures figure of 10 degs at 1200rpm with vaccum disconneted to distributor. (i.e aligned the markings)
Very good.
However I do get an extremely high ignition advance reading in MS. (60+deg not 90 as previously stated)
Quote from manual
"So in the above example, we wouldn't know how to adjust it, because we are missing the timing light info. But if the timing light showed 28.3 degrees, we would change the trigger angle to 10.0 . This takes 2 degrees out of the timing (because MS-II only adds 26.3-10 = 16.3 degrees, instead of 26.3 - 8 = 18.3 degrees), and the big number should match the timing light, so your trigger offset is correct"
I understand the theory of the trigger offset but am baffled as to how I'm to get figures to match (as the timing light is only a strobe), How to I get the seamingly incorrect 60+ degs to read correctly
I would point out that the distributor is on points at the moment (not ideal I know but long story) and controlling fuel only,
Any help appreciated
