CAN or no CAN ?

Post by 69 1/2 Six Pack Bee »

I am going to load the s19 files (thanx Lance for the help) into my MS-II daughtercard and need to know the difference between the std. MS-II and that with the CAN option. I am using my existing MS-I, V2.2 with the flyback mod and am going with the IAC and 8-pin HEI and keeping the GM TBI but everything will remain unchanged. I am running a manual tranny so I am not looking for transmission control. I may (this is a BIG "may") step up to direct sequential injection in the future so this begs the question; which version?
Thanx again,
Bud

Whether you use the CAN code or not depends on your MS-II daughtercard.

If the silicon is green, you have a non-CAN version -- use MS-II code version 1.x. If the silicon is blue, you have a CAN version and use MS-II code version 2.x.

I don't have it in front of me right now but I know the board is a blue-green color. I just got it from Glen.
Thanx,

Bud,

You can also look to see if the CAN chip is there:

The CAN chip has 8 legs. Beta MS-IIs had a three legged transistor in this location, production V1 MS-IIs had a blank spot.
