FIDLE solenoid max current

Post by gav900 »

Hi all,

I have been lurking on here for a long time, and gleaned much Knowledge from the ones in the know :D
I currently am working on (have been for over 2 years on and off) a 1993 Kawasaki ZZr1100 which i am converting to efi. I have a question regarding the FIDLE feature of the microsquirt V3 i am using, i want to just use a simple solenoid on/off valve.....thing is how much current can the microsquirt handle? Looking at the wiring diagram i found in eaydocs, the microsquirt turns the solenoid on and off by grounding it (in the docs it says to use a 2 amp fuse on the positive line). I have a solenoid that draws 0.8 amps when energised..is this ok to wire direct onto the FIDLE wire.
Also this solenoid is open when de energised and closed when energised....this means once the engine reaches its switchover setpoint, the solenoid will draw current to provide normal running (not ideal).

Any comments?

Thanks

0.8 amps is no problem - I believe current production ones use a 3 amp MOSFET.
