Stop switch

Post by JT Squirting »

Hi all, I was just wondering if there is a way to configure one of the spare inputs to microsquirt to stop the engine running when a earth is applied? its for a ATV safety switch which is normally open circuit until the rider jumps off and the switch closes completing the earth path.

Any ideas?

Thanks Jason

If you kill the 12V feed the bike will stop, as the Microsquirt is not active, however any normal kill switch scenario will work, because it does on my bike fitted with a cased MicroSquirt.

This topic has been covered before, and I'm sure Bruce Bowling contributed a few ideas, and IIRC the bootload switch was talked about, but all you have to do is ground the crank trigger, and the system will stop working too.

I thought of grounding the crank trigger but was worried about damaging the Microsquirt, so you think this is safe to do, yes?

Thanks for your reply :D

Assuming it's a VR sensor, this produces an AC spike as it passes a tooth, I wouldn't think it would cause any issues with a MicroSquirts' VR input at all. :)
