lost connection to Usquirt within 2 min of running -SOLVED-

Post by 65looter »

Hi,

I have the Usquirt V2 (from DIYAutotune), finally finished my wiring today and decided to test it.
I'm using a USB-serial adaptor (the same I used with the Megasquirt 1 extra), Windows XP pro sp3.
Unfortunately here's what happened today:
laptop is on
Megatune is on
turn the ignition key to on (not starting the engine)
I hear the beep from Megatune
nothing much going on for a minute or two
boom, lost connection to the Usquirt
At that point, after loosing the connection, I can't even do the communication test. It always says: failed.
The only wires I have left to connect are the tach input one and the warmup LED, using the Usquirt for fuel only so every ignition wires are not used and safe.

I have been looking on the forum all afternoon, read the following page http://www.megamanual.com/connect.htm
but no luck, the Usquirt will not stay on for more than 1 or 2 min.

I have checked my +5v, and it seems to be +2.5, very odd

Any thoughts?

I have my V2 MicroSquirt powered up and my Vref is connected to my purple/black wire (bootload) and it reads 5.17V on the first voltmeter to hand.

EDIT. I had a similar problem yesterday, but the wire for the bootload switch had broken at the screw terminal, and i couldn't see it.
Are you sure you don't have something pulling the Vref down? Short or faulty TPS etc.

Something interesting in the log file, vBatt starts at 13.9v and end up at 24v  how can that be possible?

It seems every time you get a trigger +- event you get a vBatt spike...I don't know enough to answer, just looking at the Log file. I think it's higher than 24V too...

latest datalog after Matt's recommendations
interWriteDelay = 1 ; Milliseconds delay after each byte when writeBlocks is "on".
to read this:
interWriteDelay = 5 ; Milliseconds delay after each byte when writeBlocks is "on".
Also, if the line above that says "writeBlocks = on" change it to "writeBlocks = off".

I can see the vBatt gauge going from 13.9V to 24V, once it reaches 24V I loose connection with the Usquirt

***SOLVED***

After exchanging a few emails with Matt from DiyAutotune, the problem was solved.
The issue was with my MAP sensor, I have a Y connection on the +5Vref from the TPS to the MAP, and as the MAP was miss-wired.... well you know the rest ;)

Again, Matt you are a top notch guy.
Thanks a lot.
