Newbie question

Post by involute Curve »

Is it possible to replace with Microsquirt the current ECU on my bike it has both EFI & Electronic ignition, both running via the current ECU.

I am looking for advice on Microsquirts suitability for use in the configuration laid out below

The engine is a 1700cc 48Deg V twin with with 17 tooth crank rotor with a missing tooth giving 20deg per tooth.
The motor already being fuel injected I should have most of the sensors etc already fitted.
Is has a single crank pick-up sensor with only two wires coming from it.
This motor also has 2 spark plugs per cylinder utilising 4 coils.

I would also like to run wideband lambda.

The reason for the change is I want to make some quite radical mods to the motor and feel if suitable, Microsquirt will allow me control over fuel and ignition mapping, I have in the past used Power Commander with some success but would like more control.

Would It be better to fit duel crank sensors.

Any advice or suggestions are most welcome.

Thank you in advance.

This sounds pretty straightforward. The only really unusual feature is the double coil setup, so I would not try direct coil control. I'd use logic level coil outputs and external ignition modules - or maybe a set of LS2 coils - instead.
