EGT Logging

Post by hwright »

HI,

I want to hook up my EGT sensor. It is a thermocouple with a converter that output's a voltage. I just want to read that voltage in to uS using the spare ADC input. How do I read the Spare ADC? port?

hwright,

There no option to do this, but there is a work-around or two.

I think what I would do is set the EGT amplifier (AD595 or similar) 0-5V output to be logged as the second EGO channel. You might have to use a WB sensor as the second channel (I can't remember off the top of my head), and in that case you would get AFR from MicroSquirt and have to 'unscramble' it with a carefully chosen transformation in MegaTune (and a corresponding WB calibration, of course).

Something easier, if you are willing to forgo flood-clear mode (not usually necessary in a well tuned application), TPS accel enrichment, and high TPS EGO feedback cut-off, you could feed the 0-5 V amplifier output to the TPS input, and get volts directly (and even make a transformation in the INI output channels section to read degrees in the datalog, if you want). You can use MAP for the accel enrichment and EGO cut-off, if you aren't using alpha-N.

If you have questions, let us know a little bit about your set-up and we try to help.

Lance.
