MicroSquirt.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

I've installed a megasquirt II and ik got megatune running. But I have a strange problem with connecting to the MSII unit. Once I put the car on contact i see the reading coming back from several sensors and the megatune indicates status ready but after a couple of seconds starts changing from on to off and back again. Once I try to load a file into MS he says he cannot find the controller although megatune says he's ready and I'm getting readings back from MS. What can be the problem and how do I solve it?

I have a feeling that MegaTune is setup wrong.

It happened the other day to someone I was walking through, it would connect and read ok, but when writing to the MS, it would give page errors and such, 'til I realised that MegaTune was set for the wrong Firmware.
Reconfigured MT and voila!

I have reconfigured MS but I still ge the message. the message I get is: Page 1: could not connect to controller.

I have seen that part of the manual and I did according to that.
Is it possible that it cannot connect due to the fact that the sourcefile i want to use was made with a different code version?

I am not sure what you mean. Your INI file (and CODE_VARIANT) must match the code you have installed.

For all standard versions of the code, there is a matching INI file. If you have created custom code that uses the sertial interface to pass any 'non-standard' values, then you must create an INI file that matches the code.

check the clock on " realtime display" on megatune! do you have constant on? otherwise seems to be power problem.

I have looked at the realtime display and I counts normal when the connection drops skip the seconds it went of.
I also check all the wiring and the reading were ok. My guess is that my laptop is the problem. I took an old laptop from work to try it out but this one only has a 8 bit transfer and MSII is set on 16 bit.
I have also rewrote the file to my ini code and this took care of almost all the warnings I first got.

Wel I have access to the controllr now but the strange part is i'm not getting battery reading anymore.
When is try to download a file (with right ini) I get another error mesage saying: Controller voltage too low for reliable flash burning.
When i measure the 12V it gives a reading 11.5 on both the ecu and de msII side of the harnass. I'm starting to get a little confused because to my opinion the msII should get sufficient power the work properly.

Right click on one of the gauge in MegaTune, and swap to voltMeter. Then that gauge will tell you what MegaTune thinks the voltage is.

If it is below 10 Volts (8 on the stim) then look closely at R3 and R6 to make sure they are the correct values, properly soldered, and not solder bridged to adjacent components.

However, if the actual voltage is good, you can ignore the 'voltage too low' warning - I do it successfully on my alpha GPIO board all the time (it doesn't have a battery voltage circuit yet).
