Stock Lt1 tune...

Post by LT1-TA »

Well i am thinking about throwing the latest version of MS II onto my LT1. But I have NO experince and knowledge in tuning.

Now the motors are pretty simple and I can get ever spec on a LT1 for someone if they are capable of giving me a tune to start on and run with. This is my baby and my graduation present and i dont want to screw it up.

I have the ignition thing figured out. A guy on camaroz28.com has it figured out and is using the crank signal for the signal to the MSII.

Im am just going to install MSII on the stock motor and get it tuned and then im going to turbo it with a few lbs of boost. At that time i should have a decent enough understanding of the tuning software and what direction to go in order to accomplish a decent tune. (i know what A/F ration i need.... but that is about it... the VE thing is kidna new to me...)

THanks for your help... i have been reading for MONTHS... and am still reading.. but it seems you are limited to how much you can learn wihtout the actul product in front of you.

Thanks again..

Well if you have the timing part figured out the the ve. should be fairly easy. Open the fuel table 1, click tools, use the table generator, put in some rough estimate of your idle, max hp ,max tq. ,max rpm., and it should get you fairly close.

well i wouldn't really say i got timing figured out... that is a lil different..

I mean i got what im doing to give a signal to MSII for ignition signal figured out... not timing...

but yeah i have played wiht Megatune as much as it allows me without actully have a MSII computer there, and it seems fairly easy doing it hte route you gave me.

I have ojne question.. but i will have to open the program up to figure it out... has to do wiht kPa... will post a lil later..

how do i know what kPa i will make my max power at? Or since those max powers will be made at atmosphere while WOT then 100 kPa would be the correct thing to put into the VE table generater correct?

Yes 100 kpa is what you want unless you boosting it.

On my laptop I have lt1 ve tables read from the stock pcm(I used to have a 96 z/28, and tunercat). I could send them and that should get you very close.
