I seem to be lacking in the top end!

Post by Underdog51 »

I am still new to all of this. But this is what i got. MS1 with EDIS on a version 2.2 board. My engine a 20v 4age Supercharged. I got the engine running pretty good and close. The car really pulls down low but power seems to run out early! Its on a race car that is not steet legal so its not so easy to get tunning in. What can i do in the garage to help out for those few minutes i get on the track! I can't exactly put my computer in the car during an autocross run eighther. I currently have a narrow band 02 sensor.
I am geting about 155 kpa. It is a 1.6 liter engine and i am using 440cc injectors. What "required fuel" should i be using. Sorry if i seem dumb i just want to learn the RIGHT way to do things. thanks for any help

Invest in some Dyno time. This would be the easiest way to get the tunning done and you can get accurate number on HP and Torque.

Maybee see if you can get some time at a local race track to do tunning.

yep, thats right....

for top end you should really have wideband oxy, especiall on Fi engine. here are several reasons why you might be lacking at top end. might be too lean or too rich, but you cant tell with narrowband. ignition might be off too.

whatever you do i wouldnt attempt to drive it in high rpm regions undil you are sure it's not too lean.

i think your options are:

1. spend money to buy wideband to get your top end wsorted
2. pay for dyno time and tune your top end with wideband.
3. might be difficuly - you you could possibly borrow wideband from somewhere.... if you have 'hookup's'

Scott,

There is no reason why a properly secured laptop would not go through AutoX tech inspection with more than a brief question and answer exchange. With 3-4 extra runs, you may be able to get enough logs to figure this out.

Any chance the injectors or fuel pump are maxing out?
