The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
Forum for discussing how to install MicroSquirt(TM), choose and troubleshoot sensors, wiring, and communications for MicroSquirt (TM) and MicroSquirt Module(TM).

okay i am stumped. everything works fine until i start the engine i get good cranking rpm and for a brief second i get running rpm then i lose communication the bike stays running. after this happens i have to shut off the bike unplug my usb cable and plug it back in to reconnect. i am running a microsquirt v3.77 code and tuner studio ms lite v2.505 i have previously used this laptop and data cable on a megasquirt2 with no such problem. any help would be awsome!
update i was hooked directly from microsquirt rs232 cable to usb adapter cable. added rs232 cable from last megasquirt project. and walla! however i am still a little confused? sometimes it will still drop the comunication.
I am stumped! What's going on is when the engine starts and runs I lose comm at first I was hooked up directly from microsquit rs232 cable to USB adapter. Everything was fine until engine started the I would lose comm. I added the rs232 cable from a previous megasquirt and it would run for a while then lose comm after making the cord as straight as possible and moving the laptop as far away from the bike as possible it now seems to communicate with no problem! I am running 4 ls2 coils wired in parallel for a waste spark set up I have the recommended capacitors. It runs really good! But I am worried that maybe this is causing a lot of noise? Causing the loss of comm? I eventually would like to run a wireless set up but I would imagine that may be a major problem! Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
USB is a fairly 'fragile' protocol, and is meant for a desk-top environment. In a noisy environment, RS232 right to the laptop and then a VERY short USB connection will help. Bluetooth might work, as it is meant for a 'real-world' environment.

That says to me that you're firing all four each time, every time - really?
i am sorry i didnt state that correctly! i have two banks of two coils wired in parallel. i new after i posted it i would get checked on it but that is good news because i plan on going wireless soon! thank you so much for the input!
it turns out i was useing non resistor plugs. i am a auto tech and havent seen non resistor plugs in a long time. it is a old motorcycle and i didnt even think about it. i am running ls2 coils in waste spark configuration. i will have to do some research as to a suitable replacement spark plug. but it makes perfect sense that thats causing alot of noise. i was sure i had wired everthing as per recomendation. thank you so much for your input!
