Ignition help needed V-Twin Honda
After a long time I bought a Microsquirt V3 to use on my Honda NTV650 (Hawk).
In 2008 I had a question concerning the setup of the ignition, but if I understand correct, as from V2.8 there is a possibility to use independent dual spark.
So again I need some help for the correct setup of the ignition.
Engine parameters are as follows:
2 cylinder
Cylinder angle: 52°
Crank offset: 76°
Tooth wheel driven by crank: 8-1
2 pickup coils: 128° angle from each other
I’ve been reading the notes in the quickstart guide about independent dual ignition, but still I’m a bit in the dark.
Do I need to go for using 1 sensor or can I use both sensors for two independent circuits (inj1-ign1 & inj2-ign2)?
As I understand correct from the dual spark page ( a. Crank trigger), I’m not allowed to use both sensors because I have a multiple tooth wheel instead of 1 teeth?
So do I then still need to use 1 sensor and use the offset for the 2nd cylinder?
Is the new feature independent dual spark only for 1 toothed wheels?
Who can give me the light?
Thanks,
Rogier

Thanks dontz125!dontz125 wrote:The manual is a little confusing and contradictory, but it seems you can't use dual spark for an odd-fire engine with a single missing-tooth wheel. You do have enough teeth to run it as a single-spark engine; set 'Dual Spark' to off, then set your M-N numbers, set 'Odd-fire' to on and your odd-fire angle.
So then I use only one pickup sensor?
Will this be the front or rear cylinder?
