125cc methanol injection

Post by limoncello »

Hi everyone. I have a 125cc motorcycle that I'm looking to modify for more racing next year. My ultimate goal is blown and injected fuel, but I'm just looking at the injection this year. I was looking at stealing parts from a Honda PCX (125 efi scooter), but then I realized it's going to cost just as much to put together a second system for methanol (vs. gas) so now I'm back to the drawing board.

I am not finding much in the way of methanol compatible fuel pumps for the size I need. Most of the ones I see flow massive amounts of fuel and are also massive in size. Can anyone point me in a better direction here?

I'm still looking at the throttle body from the PCX as I can't seem to find anything even remotely close to the 22mm port in my head. Looking at maybe making my own?

Any help would be appreciated!

Not sure what injector flow rate or pressure you seek, but the attached is methanol compatible, as well ultra low current rate which can help on low output motorbike charge systems.
I researched low flow rate pumps recently for a methanol/ water injection system on my project. As well, it will run nicely with pwm for a returnless system, and with even lower current ratings.

Hi limoncello
We're looking at squirting methanol in our dragbike and are finding similar difficulties as you. The pumps available are far too big. Also I hear that methanol is more electrically conductive, so will use up battery power. One thought we had was to use a regular motorcycle EFI pump and flush out after every competiton meet. We would use a gas map for this purpose.
The diaphragm pump suggested would lack consistency of flow, I reason. I could be wrong here? Are diaphragm pumps used with efi anywhere?

Throttle bodies in a usable size to suit out old-school intake manifold of 30mm is proving tricky too. We are targetting 34mm as size of choice. Making them has also been debated.

We hope to hear from you and how you are going with the project.
