Do I need a diode across the IAC valve?

Post by m3vxt »

Do I still need a diode across the IAC like the normal MS2, or is it part of the IC. Looking at the schmatic for the IC looks as if it has flyback diode within.

I have a 2 wire bosch IAC valve from a 16v MK2 golf gti for referance if anyone knows setting that will work with it?

Well I have added a diode and it now seems to work although only over a short range of about 20-50% seems to be best on about 160hz

At least this will give me something to work with.

Any suggestion of how to spread the effect working band of the IAC?

A lot of IAC valves only work over a narrow range - not much you can do about it other than replacing it with a different valve, or maybe putting in a stiffer spring.
