Fuel pump primes, but won't run after engine fires????

Post by Norzilla »

Hi All,

I have a fuel pump issue that i can not seem to solve.

what i know;

1) The fuel pump uses the wire marked "fuel pump" to privide the controlled ground for the pump to run

2) the power supply comes from the main power relay.

3) When i switch on the ignition the fuel pump primes and stops, but it does not sound the same as when the ground is provided by a regular ground wire.ie it seems to run slower, sounds weaker

4) When the fuel pump ground is provided by a regualar ground wire, the pump runs full time ie before, during and after cranking and the motor runs fine

Anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks
John

Try using the fuel pump output to trigger a relay, not directly to the pump.

Problem Solved.. Microsquirt will only control a relay and not the actual pump, so wire up a relay and now the pump does what it should.
