Loss of VR sensor input

Post by 195suz »

Hello all,
I am running Microsquirt on a two stroke twin W/ Yamaha r6 throttle bodies and a 36-1 trigger wheel W/VR sensor. Last year around Nov. had some issues with my microsquirt so sent it back to DIY autotune as aways a fast turn around (Fried comm chips) got it back checked it for communication and all is good and thats all I checked. This summer after a bunch of frame mods put it back together and downloaded the lastest code (2.89) now theres no spark. Went through a bunch of checks with the guys at DIY but nothing So I sent it back and the input circut was bad So they sent me a new unit great turn around again. So I pluged this unit in and hooked up the laptop kicked it over and its reading tach so I start to reassemble everything when it dawns on me that the tach was a little high when I kicked it over ~5000 rpms so i pulled the plug out a kicked it over and it looked like a tazer so its firing on every tooth. So I hooked up my laptop again and I was greeted with found 2.3 expecting 2.89 when I opened megatune Ok heres the problem so I reloaded 2.89 now theres no spark. I uninstalled everthing to do with Megatune, Mirosquirt reloaded everthing fresh still no spark. Tried going back to the older versions of the code nothing. Does anyone have an idea here Im leaving in 3 weeks for Bonniville.

If you are seeing 5000 rpm you probably have a bad tach signal. To verify this we need to see a datalog. Stick with 2.890 code - this is the best code to date. Your setup looks ok. It has a trigger offset of +5 deg, but trigger offset should be negative in dual spark mode - but that is probably not your problem - it should still fire spark, although the timing may be off. We rarely have 2-strokes so the rpm may be off by a factor of 2 (but not 5000 rpm) and that will be easy to see.

it was sparking on every tooth I pulled the plug and saw it. I will do a datalog and post it ASAP.

Nothing shows up on your datalog - rpm, trigger+/- and deltaT are all flat 0, there are no VR detects whatsoever. So there should not have been any spark output. Or it may be that you did not turn on the datalog while you were cranking. If you saw rpm on the gauge then it should show up in the datalog.

There is no rpm on the gauge there is no spark, I have checked the VR sensor on a scope and it shows a good sign wave.
