Connecting problem with Microsquirt

Post by Jankos »

I've build up motorcycle with microsquirt and today I got serious problems with megatune connections.

My schedule has been slow and last time I tried to build this on on November and then connectivity was OK, today I continued and no connection to megatune.

I tried also to change software with megasquirt download 2.00 and it looks to work ok. But if I make "read signature" directly after it will give Signature: "á". Verification works well with any codes.

And if try to connect with megatune when bootwire is grounded it will give "right" code error for boot jumper.

But after powercycle no errors and no megatune connection.

I also tested with a MS2 3.57 box and with that all works well...

Check the voltage at the bootloader wire; does it read 5 volts?

Also, is this a V1.0 (red board) or V2.0 (black board) Microsquirt?

This is with a red PCB, so it's 1,00 ?

Bootloader wire has 4.79 volts.

I've checked place where wiring was on motorcycle. There is possibility that bootwire has touched battery +12 V.
Some study of bootwire connection from schematic, there is not any kind of protection. With a schottky diode boot mode will work ok and no possibility to make wrong wiring to bigger voltages like 12 volts.

So, now I believe that microcontroller is damaged. Is it possible to buy Microcontroller with bootloader inside? Removal and resoldering is not problem.

This could be a damaged processor. If you can load code without the bootloader wire grounded, your processor is broken. Note that V2.0 ones have this problem fixed. If the processor is broken, contact the dealer you bought it from directly.

Yes, download is working with or without bootloader grounding.
