Using Bootloader

Post by CB500RR »

What is the correct way of using bootloader on a microsquirt ? Do you just ground the purple and black wire with the microsquirt powered up, then cycle the power off and on, and then re-install megatune, up or is there a different method ?

To get into bootloader:

1) Make sure microsquirt is not powered.
2) Ground bootloader wire
3) reapply power to microsquirt.

-----

For normal running:
1)Turn off microsquirt
2)leave bootloader wire floating (make sure it is not in contact with anything)
3)reapply power

Let me add that after you download the code you will typically turn off power, unplug the bootloader pin and load an msq. After you have loaded the msq it is essential that you again cycle power. the reason is simple. The code does a lot of calculations at the beginning of the program, one time only to save cpu time. If you change certain parameters - generally configuration stuff like no. cylinders - these calculations will not be repeated and the car will not run right if at all.
