Maf sensor support in uSquirt

Post by geartech »

Sorry if this has already been addressed but I can not find the answer I am looking for in the forum.
here goes. I want to set up a uSquirt with maf ( ford style in 90 mm housing.) I can find the options for using maf in mega tune version 2.25 and have the 2.89 firmware settings file added. I saw in some of the documentation about the table set up but no mention of where to input the data. I can not find the maf transfer table anywhere. Note, I don't have the hardware yet as I want to make sure it supports what I need before I purchase the unit. Did this feature make it into the code or am I not setting something up correctly . any pointers in the right direction would be a great help. another note. I really need the dual vr inputs but I could set up and single sensor wheel if the other ms controllers have the feature for maf .
thanks

geartech,

I'm using a Ford MAF. I'm running the usquirt code on my MS2, V3. I think the transfer curve is for a generic Ford MAF and is part of the "s19" file downloaded to the processor.

All you can do (AFAIK,unless you program) is to modify the curve via "other tuning, maf correction table". I've used two Ford MAFs (both 5.0L) and was surprised at how much the curve had to be tweaked to get approx. the same AFR. One had to have positive correction at all the points I could reach, the other negative.

That is what I was starting to think, you just use the correction table to correct the air flow values.
That should work for my application.
wonder if anyone has done anything with the software to implement that function.
Thanks for the help with this

You may be able to modify the base table (1024 points) in Tuner Studio. I believe it gives several ways of fitting data if you have data from a calibrated air flow meter.

I have the flow data for the sensor. I'll look in tuner for the input table. is there a certain version of tuner studio I need to look for or will the latest version work o.k.
Thanks

After looking thru tuner studio I don't see any way to input the flow data table. can it be corrected thu the maf correction table in megatune?

I will talk to Phil Tobin about this at the MS meeting in Atlanta, or you can ask in the MSEFI list under Tuner Studio.

In MT with the 2.890 ini, if you select the MAF option under the Fuel Setup menu then go to Other Tuning you will be able to select a MAF correction table which will allow you to modify the default MAF table. The downside to this is that there are only 12 points, so you need to plot your flow table and divide it into 12 segments that are as close to 12 straight lines as possible.
