updating megatune

its been a while since i used megatune, so i am a little rusty !
my new microsquirt is version 2.886, when i connect i get an error saying expected 2.880.
i have tried to download the new code, but i cant find out how to get megatune to accept it.
any ideas...and in simple terms please

You'll need to download and activate the INI file that matches your code. See this page for notes on how to do this:

I don't know if this is simpler... I was getting an error message "2.889 expected, but 2.886 contained" or something similar.

I read the first few lines of the "megasquirt-II" files to identify the version numbers, and when I used the download program, it seems to put the latest ini (2.889) in an "Updates" folder in my project file as asked, yet the MegaTune must look in the "mtCfg" folder, because that's where 2.886 version is in my project file. All I did was copy and paste & replace the older version with the later "megasquirt-II" file containing the 2.889 code that's in the "Updates" folder into the "mtCfg" folder where the other "megasquirt-II" (2.886 version) lives and the dialog box does not appear now.

Hope this makes sense. but I'm a noob at this, so I could be doing something wrong,.. the above seems to work for me.
