Flex fuel spark retard
I want to put together a E85 flex fuel setup for a 4 cylinder 300 hk motorcycle. 8 injectors is used, 4 for low rpm and 4 extra under high load.
I have read the info about flexfuel: http://www.megamanual.com/flexfuel.htm
"Note that some version of the MS-II code (V2.6+) allow settings for fuel composition based spark control adjustments as well. In these cases, numbers entered indicated advance added, so the default of -13.0 for 100% ethanol represents 13 degrees of retard."
"There are other issues with E85 such a Reid vapor pressure (RVP), volatility (fuels ability to vaporize), cold starting enrichment, hot restart, and the like. But E85 is a really nice DIY experimenter's paradise."
My MS-II where costum made before I interested myself in flex fuel:
Part of email from David who built my MSII:
11 Jun 2007: I have made a mod to the MSII
daughter card that sets it up for 2 tach inputs and 2 coil outputs.
Also I added a 2nd hall sensor circuit and a 2nd IGBT. The unit is ready to
take 2 inputs from your dynatec crank trigger. It will supply a ground pull down
and open to fire each coil. Hall 1 triggers Coil1, Hall 2 triggers coil 2. Also
the unit will no longer support a MSI CPU.
I believe David told me that the code in my MS-II is MicroSquirt code...
Some questions that I hope to get answered:
1) How do I know if my modified MS-II support flex fuel with fuel composition based spark control adjustments?
2) How do I know if my modified MS-II can support connecting to a fuel composition sensor?
3) Are the cold starting enrichment and hot restart issues, if they where problem issues, resolved?
4) Can I find more info/documentation to learn more about flex fuel and fuel composition based spark control adjustments?
5) Do you have some general advice?
Sincerely/Chris
