Microsquirt works!!
I now have Microsquirt running in my 91 Ford Explorer with EDIS6.
Nothing very exciting, it just works.
For EDIS there were only two things that are required to be done.
1. PIP is connected to the Opto+ line through a 1k resistor. The Opto- wire is grounded to the Microsquirt chassis ground.
2. SPOUT is connected to the IGNOUT1 witha 1k pullup to the 5VREF line.
I believe this confirms the setup in the Megamanual for MS2, only no diodes were removed from the opto input.
The Ignition firmware is setup exacly as shown for EDIS in the Megamanual for MS2.
Of course the above connections were done to my truck using one of my EEC-IV to Megasquirt adaptor boards.
The Microsquirt pigtail is wired directly to a DB37 connector and connected to the adaptor board. The adaptor board has connections for the 1k pullup and the PIP 1k resistor, Also I wired a MAP sensor onto the Proto area of the adaptor board.
While I was at it I wired two Aux outputs to the Accell and Warmup Microsquirt outputs, I needed a 1k pullup to 5v to trigger my high current driver from the Microsquirt driver. Then wired the high current drivers to the third gear solenoid and the lockup clutch solenoid of the A4LD transmission. The Adaptor board LED's give a visual indication of when the outputs engage.
I have also modified the Microsquirt for knock using the knock sensor amplifier on my adaptor board. I have no need for the Microsquirt Tach out, so I removed the Tachout transistor Q1 and pullup resistor R21, and wired the knock pin 26 of the 9S12 MCU to the pad where the transistor collector used to be.
I am using the stock NBEGO, but I will be installing a Innovate LC-1 shortly.
Got it mostly tuned up this afternoon after about an hour. I still need to tune the cold PWM idle, and the Xtau.
Just for kicks, (and for testing purposes) I have installed a jumper on the adaptor board so I can easily switch over to MAF as soon as I figure out how to tune it......
