Does MS need to be wired (powered) to communicate with PC?

very excited about getting my MS wired up and tuned but can not get the pc to communicate with it despite doing everything I think needs doing.

Only thing is that the MS is not wired up so has no power, does it need the 12V to communicate with the PC?

Yes, MegaSquirt needs 12 Volts and ground to communicate via the serial port with a laptop. However, this is the MicroSquirt forum, MegaSquirt questions should be asked at http://www.msefi.com

Thanks though, very very grateful for your reply - I'll now be able to sleep tonight knowing my MS isnt broken!
