IAC crank to run tapering to simulate 'factory starts'

Post by krisr »

As the topic says.. Has anyone found a configuration that gives factory style starts? I'll explain, when I start my Megasquirted car (see sig) I have the IAC cranking set so it will have enough air supply to fire without any pedal assistance when hot/cold BUT, when the engine is hot, the car will fast idle for the set hysteresis time then IAC slams shut.

Now tonight driving our 305TPI Trans Am I noticed that when starting it will open the IAC on a hot start and taper off/close for a duration of about 2-3 seconds and not just suddenly slam shut.

At the moment my megasquirted car will fire up very easy but once it fires it'll fast idle at about 1100rpm for, I think I set it for, 5 seconds then drop down to 800rpm with no crank to run taper.

Anyone got any input as the physical time I have to test/trial is very limited due to work commitments and can't experiment of a night after work due to the noise of the car :D

Cheers
Kris
