MicroSquirt VR Circuit... explanation?

Post by Rodney Sparks »

Bruce-

If you have time, can you please give an explanation of the MicroSquirt VR input circuit? I'd like to know:
1) What is the theory of operation?
2) How does it handle a noisy signal (i.e. what are its zero crossing and trigger reset thresholds?)
3) Does it work as well as the v3 board's circuit with regard to noise, or is it simply a compromise to save space?

Please forgive me if this information is already out there; I couldn't find it...

Thanks!

Rodney,

The MicroSquirt VR circuit is essentially the same as the GPIO VR circuit. you can read about that here: http://www.megasquirt.info/gpio/vr.htm. In the testing I have done, it has worked very well.
