crazy crazy fuel discovery

Post by MSBoostedEscort »

ms1 2.2 extras .24....

42#injectors on a 2 liter.. the req_fuel calculated 9.7ms.

the car ran great for a long time, then i pulled the head and did alot of porting and port matching. after re assembling it, using the same tune, the motor would NOT spin above 4000rpm no matter how i scaled the timing or fuel. i was playing arround with the after start enrichments and for somereason decided to change the req fuel to see what happened. i tried slowly turning it up and it got worse. so i turned it down .25 ms at a time till i got down to 6ms. 6ms is where it seams to be running the best. now it will spin up to 6500 without a problem. there is a little bit of knock but im prety sure its because of my timing. it advances from 10* to ~40* @ 4000rpm, which seams a little high..

so my question is this: why does it run 4x better with half the req_fuel that the calculator came up with?

MSBoostedEscort,

It shouldn't. There might be a bug in the code or in MegaTune...

Do you have a data log from before you modified engine?
Compare the fuel pulse width.
