little help getting a 4cyl started
---
a couple weeks back we wired msns-e to the injectors, and we were able to start the car every try, no problems. with this in mind i have ruled out fuel being the problem, and am looking for someone more experienced in ignition to offer some advice.
we used the degree wheel to come up with the same trigger values as those used by sportage4x4 for his kia.
i also, out of desperation, tried adjusting cranking pulse width values ranging from 4 all the way to 13. above 9, the smell of fuel was very noticable. i also checked the plugs after each attempt to see if there was fuel on the threads, etc. i put new plugs in before beginning.
does required fuel affect cranking pulsewidth at all? i also tried leaving cranking pulsewidth alone and adjusting req_fuel with no change in results.
very very very occaisionally, the car would start and die about a second later. i tried this for about 5 hours, and unbelievably i never got a datalog of when it would start.. very frustrating. the one time i thought i did megatune seemed to crash.
one thing i did check is the clock. it was always incrementing so i'm sure the ms is not restarting on its own.
i did notice that if i turn power off to the megasquirt and try to start it, it would seem to almost catch a little more. still wouldnt start though.
sometimes when starting, the rpm would spike to 800 or 1200, but those might actually be when the car started and died. i really dont remember, im exhausted :/ cranking rpm was set to 400 because when the battery was charging, it would crank higher than 300 and Run would be set to Y.
please see attached msq and datalogs
if anyone is in the delaware area and wants to lend a hand, lemme know- thanks.
