smoke coming out

Post by maztah »

i've recently installed equipment like an idle up for the aircon to work. this causes the MAP to rise to around 55 to 60 kpa. but I notice visible smoke coming out of the muffler but my EGO sensor says that it is not that rich or lean. what could possibly be wrong?

also there is always carbon residue on the spark plugs. my req fuel is 19ms and the idle pulse width ranges from 2 to 3ms. is that too rich?

My hot idle pulsewidth is around 2ms, req-fuel 5.9 on 500cc/min injectors if that helps? Sooty plugs indicate a rich mixture.

No. Only a rich mixture will produce smoke.

Is it misfiring? If it is so rich that a misfire occurs, it will register as lean because the cylinder just pumps the oxygen through it and doesn't burn it up.
