What's the max RPM possible?

Post by Ludotech »

Hello,

I'm sure I have read it somewhere but I can't remember: what's the max RPM possible with MS II (I know that it depends of the number of cylindres)?

If someone could show me where it says that or tell me the max RPm, it would be wonderful!

Thank you

Ludovic

Ludovic,

Al has raised the limit in recent code. It was previously 32 Krpm (32767 rpm). The code is now good to 64 Krpm (65535 rpm). I have tested the code and hardware on the bench at these speads (and 8 cylinders).

Thank you Lance!

64000 RPM!!!!!!! It's huge!!!!! So it's coded by 16 bit ?
I guess that it depends of the number of teeth of the triggerwheel(36-1, 60-2, ...)?
Are you talking about the 2.6 code? By the way, is it possible with the 2.6 code to trigger from a 60-2 triggerwheel(I guess that yes)? AND to control in the same time port injection AND two VB921 or directly the EDIS module?

I'm writing a document about Megasquirt for the school (it's very importatnt for me, I give it tomorrow so I'm very afraid) so I'd like to know what are the last possibilities of the last code.

Thank you

Ludovic

Ludotech,

64 Krpm is independent of the number of cylinders or wheel type (in theory (because of the 16 bit coding). I haven't tested the missing wheel code at extemely high rpm (yet!), but 36-1 is good to at least 20 Krpm (while controlling ignition and fuel).

With very high rpms and high tooth counts, the limit come about because my sound card cannot generate clean patterns much over 20 kHz, so a wheel like 360-1 is limited to about 3700 rpm by the sound card, but the code itself is humming along fine.
