Tuning fuel first later ignition or in one time?
Not sure where to post this...
I have the MS1, V2.2 and I didn't change the code (.v19??), anyway I have my car running reasonable (supercharged) I use the wideband to fine tune.
1) I am curious wether is wise / clever to put more effort in this setup, as in the future I want EDIS ign and control as well. I think I'll use the extra code then, but should I first finish tuning or swap to extrta code asap?
2) Is the extra code indeed a good idea or is teh MS2 the way to go?

If this is your first installation, and you have a good independent ignition system now, fuel-only would be the simplest route to go. Then, after tuning the fuel side to your satisfaction, add ignition control. I'd suggest installing msnsextra now, though, as you'll then be tuning 12x12 fuel table, and will have a chance to figure out the various fuel settings. You'll need to figure that stuff out when you switch to ignition control anyways.
If you have large injectors that result in short pulse widths at idle, MSII would be a significant improvement. Also if you have a stepper motor idle control system, then again MSII would be the obvious choice. If neither of these issues apply, I'd suggest sticking with MSI for the near term at least.

Go ahead and load up MSnS-E and take a look around with the ECU on stimulator and get familiar with it. If you decide you'd rather stick with the standard MS-I code you can always go back to it.
Like Jerry says, it's pretty straightforward. Your 'risky' comments above, is that due to concerns about the re-flashing process, or concerns with the -extra code?arnold wrote:Thanks,is this a risky operation? I mean installing the extra code?
