Tuning VE by hand with wideband

Post by 71jeep »

Hi all ...

MSNS-E 029q2 MSv3 megatune 2.25 buick oddfire V6 TBI fuel only

I just installed a wideband on the heep getting rid of the narrowband and for some reason I have been having trouble with mstweek and VEXme I am not sure what I am doing wrong and EGO seems to want to cause realy bad surging that I did not have before.
The only I have not tried yet is Autotune.
But anyway I decided to just turn of ego and have my buddy drive nice and easy as I watched the VE and I manually put fuel in and took it out by hand with better results the heep seems to be getting better on power and the AFR seem good at most points so far 12.5 at 85-100 13.5-14.7 most everyweres else I will lean cruse later.
So my question by doing this am doing esentially the same thing as the programs as long as my wideband is reading corecttly I should be okay to go correct?
Or am just not turning something off I need to to get the programs to work right?
I did turn off Accel enrichments.

Thanks to anyone who helps!

Thankyou 71jeep :P

71Jeep,

That's one way to do it, and it should work fine. Another is to make a datalog, and look at the AFR after the fact, increasing it where it seems low for the rpm and MAP, and vice versa (which is how I always do mine).

Either works as well as MSTweak or autotune, because of the intervention of common sense into the feedback loop!

Thanks Lance I was sure it was the same but wanted to make sure I am not sure what I am doing wrong with the programs maybe the VE table was to far messed up scewing things abit?
If what I am doing is working I am going to stick with it.
Thanks again Lance!

Agreed-- with the added benefit of actually learning how to tune the car! It's really not that hard and really I wish everyone would go through it this way at least their first time. VE tuning with a wideband couldn't be much easier really... All the data is right there in your face....
