MSII vs MS (decisions decisions decisions... )

Post by ShaharBD »

Good day to you all.

I'm planning on converting my 2.3 Isuzu petrol Pickup from carb to TBI.

I am planning on using MegaSquirt as ECU for the system.

The future plan is also to convert to a distributorless system (in order to make it waterproof - unless you guys have a better idea) but that's a more advanced stage.

I am wondering weather I could buy now the MSII kit and use it for fuel injection only or I have no choice but to get the MS kit and when I wish to do ignition upgrade to MSII.

thanks,
Shahar.

ShaharBD,

You can use either MS-II or MS-I for fuel only, and you can use MS-II or MS-I (with the MSnS-E code) for ignition only. Or you can use ignition and fuel together at any point.

If you use fuel only, you simply don't connect the ignition output. You still need an tach signal, and you can use the coil negative signal for this (for fuel only), but you have to change to a proper signal (one that is in the same place with respect to the crankshaft position at all times) for ignition control (a distributor Hall or VR sensor, or a crank wheel).

Thanks.

In that case, I'll probably go on the MSII.

Do you know if there's any MegaSquirt distributor in Israel?

Shahar.
