msII connecting problems

ok first off the stuff i know you all want to hear:
MSII
code version 2.33
megatun 2.25
v2.2 main board

so i just installed MSII, set my configuration to MSII in megatune, loaded the 2.33 ini file, set the appropriate comm ports, but when i try to open megatune it says

controller code verison does not match signature in megasquirt-II.ini

expected: MS-II rev 2.30000 (found in ini file)
recieved: 0xffffffe1 (from controller)

any ideas what my problem is?

oh ps, as you may have guessed by now im using a usb to serial adapter

Did you remove the bootloader jumper when you were done?

haha i didnt remove the jumper! yes i am a "person"... although maybe it should be included in the instructions for those who try to follow them to a T such as i do

That happens! It's step #9, btw. You may have an old copy of the manual, though.
