That looks odd to me too. Maybe it is a typo and it should read "No Knock Below MAP (kPa) " If you are using my KnocksenseMS you can test it by rotating the Threshold pot until the knock indicating LED turns on. At that time the Tim ( timing retard output) should go low.

Generally, where on the engine should a Bosch knock sensor be mounted? I assume one would use an existing mount point.

In my case, the engine is a BMW 3.5 liter inline 6 cylinder DOHC 2 valves per cylinder.

Existing mounting point would be best. Centered somewhere on the uppermost part of the ...

KnocksenseMS comes tuned to have maximum sensitivity to knock frequency for your particular cylinder bore. Your original sensor that comes with the car should work fine. Some sensors (Bosch) have flat frequency response in which case KnocksenseMS does all the filtering while others are resonate ...

Boris,

Is it the box of the sensor that determines the frequency or 'tunning'. I have a toyota with a 2 wire knock sensor. Do I need to get a sensor compatable with your box or can I just get the box? Since you say your system is tunned for the bore I have. In your wirte up it talks about the user ...

Brent,
Bosch sensors that I am familiar with are flat frequency response and the knock frequency filtering is done by the circuit.

I would be interested in finding out more about under the spark plug sensor. It is not easy to design a robust housing for a piezoelectric transducer that can withstand ...

My product KnocksenseMS hooks up directly between the knock sensor and Megasquirt. I custom tune each unit to your cylinder bore. See my sig.

I have been using this thermistor from Digikey

KC005G-ND about $3

It is a size of DO35 diode and has a time constant of 7 seconds. I am still looking for something with even faster response. You cannot go too small because of the dissipation constant http://www.betatherm.com/dc.htm

There is also ...

I am no injector expert but could it be that one of the injectors is stuck partially open. This could conceivably be a intermittent condition.
