Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

I can't believe it's been 2 months since Bruce visited me. After Bruce's visit, I purchased a one ohm and a two ohm power resistor to put in series with the injector to reduce the current draw. The 1 ohm resistor worked fine at low MAP values, but when I tried to run at full throttle and high RPM I ...

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

The mystery of the discrepancy between the value for pulse width displayed in MegaTune, and the signal displayed on my oscilloscope appears to have been solved. Bruce paid a visit to my home yesterday (Thanks Bruce), and the final determination was that the injector driver in the MicroSquirt is not ...

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

I'm certainly learning a lot thorough this process. One of the things I am learning about is oscilloscope operation, which is all new to me. I hooked the scope probe up to the +12V wire going to my single injector last night, and set the scope to AC coupled, as Peter suggested. My scope has an ...

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

Actually, I've been putting the scope probe on the negative injector lead. I have the injector circuit wired so that +12 volts is supplied to one side of the injector when the key is turned on. The MicroSquirt pulls the other injector lead to ground to energize and open the injector via the injector ...

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

I'm not running a ballast resistor in series with the single low impedance injector. If I am interpreting it correctly, the main MicroSquirt web page (http://www.microsquirt.info/) indicates that PWM is not needed, nor is a ballast resistor. Here is the relevant section from that web page.

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

Sorry it has taken me so long to implement your suggestions and respond. I tried using the second injector channel last night with no change in the results - the pulse width on the scope still does not match the predicted pulse width in MegaTune in the 4,000 - 4,500 RPM range. I also turned off AMC ...

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

Here's the most recent .msq file. I hope things go well at the meeting. The settings for EGO correction and acceleration were made to disable those features in an effort to eliminate variables. Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

Is there a Stimultor for the MicroSquirt controllers? If not, could I adapt the MegaSquirt Stimulator to work with a MicroSquirt? If I could set up my controller on the bench with a standard set of inputs and loads from the Stimulator, that might give me some clues that would get me closer to a ...

Re: Engine dies around 4500 rpm

Here is a datalog file using the ve table I posted earlier today. It shows the lean condition starting around 4000 RPM that seems to persist regardless how rich I make the ve table in that region.

I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Thanks.
