Convert Carbs to Throttle Bodies: Experiences and Methods?

Post by R2.0 »

I have a set of trashed 36 Dellorto DRLA's that I am going to convert to throttle bodies (see pics on This Thread. Has anyone done this, and what were your experiences.

Here's what I'm thinking:

1) Gut carbs of all but the body, throttle shaft and plates, bleed/balance fittings, and top plate. Sell on eBay or keep for spares for my Dell 40's.

2) Fill all unneeded passages with Devcon F2 Aluminum Liquid. Use a ballon or some otehr stop to keep from flowing into places I don't want it.

3) Take a Dremel to extraneous parts and pieces.

4) Drill for Fuel injectors (optional). Need to find a good place on the body.

What have others done?

Your methodology sounds fine to me.

You will need to fabricate an adapter to mount a throttle position sensor.

Regarding mounting of the injectors- the inlet manifold is usually the best place, pointing towards the valve. Get them as close to the valve as possible (reduces wall wetting).

You can get the injector bungs off of a scrap car, or machine your own.

I believe you can also purchase these bungs, but I can't recommend a supplier.
