I'm assuming the engine is a 5MGE or similar?

you should be able to run a coil directly off the the VB921.

Feed (Ign) +12V to the coil (+ terminal)
take (-) terminal to the VB921
VB921 then earths coil at the appropriate time
(note: you set the ignition outut from MSnS-E to inverted)

note: a ...

no - you did right by cutting off two opposite teeth.

it's working when it's at TDC (as far as the ECU is concerned) that's the problem. backfire means timing is way out/off.

you've got all the bits you need to run fuel-and-spark.

the only major mod is locking the dizzi - MSII has the VR interface on the board and you've already got the other EFI hardware in place.

it will be a far more tunable setup that relying on increased fuel pressure to cope with on-boost fuel ...

the LM1 also comes with the controller that drives the O2 sensor and provides a useful signal to MS.

You cant just connect a 5-wire wideband sensor up to the MS - it needs some smarts.

toyota dizzi's use VR sensors - just about all Toyota crank/cam/dizzi sensors are VR.

They generate a current from the toothed wheel moving close by. The sensors are a basically coil of wire wrapped aroung a magnet, the steel passing thru the magnetic field induces a change in that field which in ...

Hi Mark,

Toyota VR sensors (and dizzi's) can be used with megasquirt - they just need some careful planning and a few extra bits.

I'm using a VR dizzi from from an 22RE and there's a few 3SGE powered toyotas in the 'Success Stories' now. 7mgte and 4agze engines have similar dizzi to yours.
