Hi all,
am having a problem with the VE table generator in MT 225 and the online generator and megasquirt.info.
Both tables report errors when i attempt to generate the VE table.
Torque at Maximum Hp (193.3) is greater than peak torque (177)
I am using the following information.
displacement 170
torque 177 @ 3000
hp 184 @ 5000
idle 650
redline 5500
what am i doing wrong here?

Jeff,
Recall HP = Torque*RPM/5250
If you have 184 horsepower at 5000 rpm, you have 184*5250/5000 = 193 ft·lbs of torque, which is obviously higher than your 'peak' of 177 ft·lbs.
This means the 177 can't possibly be the peak, since it is even higher at 5000 rpm. The error message is alerting you to this.
So I think either your HP or torque number aren't quite right. They may have been 'adjusted' in some way, or they may be 'marketing' numbers rather than 'engineering' numbers.
Lance.

i find
http://www.carfolio.com quite usefull for specs and such, usually quite accurate too.
of course, nothing coompares to a rolling road!

I have a question about this...
Im useing Dyno numbers + 15% drive train loss to calculate crank numbers,,
Dyno = 171whp @ 4900 rpm
Torque = 159wt @ 4600 rpm
Idle = 500
redline = 7000
2.5 liters
Calcs are 201 crank hp and 187 T.
according to the equation HP= T*RPM/5250, this doesnt compute...
any input?

Do you have the dyno printout. Those numbers don't compute. 171hp at 4900 rpm converts to 183 ft-lb of torque, much higher than your posted max value. A dyno sheet would clarify things greatly.

well i figured out what happened, and i feel pretty silly now.. =P
They Dyno sheet I have has a comparison run against it, and the colors on the 2 runs are swapped. When I first posted, I was looking at the wrong lines and posted 2whp numbers...
Problem solved,
