MicroSquirt.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

Have spent hours reviewing Microsquirt website info - dmb Qs: Often there are links to products e.g. Microsquirt II but I end up on a Megasquirt website page - am I going crazy or are these different products or just different / old / new names for the same stuff?

Also I think it is a good idea to use Microsquirt II in order to fix our Ford Bronco II with it's TFI ignition non-turbo system which is broke. Don't want to throw out the car. But I'm new. There's a "complete" Microsquirt II kit for about $300 for sale which I think can (with some extra cables and sensors) do it (assuming I hook it all up to a computer and calibrate it etc.). The question naturally is what I'm thinking out to lunch and I've missed the big picture or is what I'm thinking actually possible at least in theory?

Lastly the instructions say to put the Microsquirt control box in a cool dry place not under the hood. This is how clueless I really am, where do people put it? In the glove box, under the dash and run a cable through the firewall?

A lot of the MicroSquirt and MegaSquirt-II information crosses over as they use the same processor and basic code base.

The best place to mount it depends on the vehicle layout, but I have used a MicroSquirt with the V3.0 (plastic case) under the hood before and not had a problem.

Wait, what part of the TFI are you trying to replace? If it is just the coil you can use nearly any CDI box to provide spark.

Spark only, FORD EMS for fuel? Then you have to follow the cryptic TFI docs that I have not figured out either, and you will need a working TFI.

If you want to get triggering events off the distributor and do you own timing and fuel, if you gut out all the EMS, nothing of the TFI would be kept (well the encoder of the dist-shaft). That should be the most complicated and have the most options.
