sensor ground

just installing microsquirt v3 and have some conflicting info regarding pin18 2nd sensor ground, on the pin data it says pin18 is in addition to pin 20 for those who require it,however under injector wiring it says the the main grounds are on pins 18 22and23.and further on under HIGH POWER GROUNDS it says pins18 22and23 are the high power grounds and should be earthed to the engine so slightly confusing.can someone clarify what pin18 is used for.i would like to use pin18 to ground the innovate lc2 approx 5amp does any body know if it can handle 5amp,any help would be helpful thanks neil

Neil,

The wide band controller is a relatively high power device, and not really just a sensor like a TPS or temperature sensor. It needs its own separate ground. You should ground the wide band sensor controller to the same spot on the engine that MicroSquirt is grounded to, using its own a sufficiently large wire. You should not ground the wide band controller (LC1) to Microsquirt itself. So run pin 22 & 23 to a good clean ground location on the engine (if your harness has the wire for pin 18 in it, some don't), and run the LC1 ground to that spot as well. Use pin 19 to ground the serial connection, and use pin 20 for the TPS and thermistor sensor ground (or use 18 for the TPS and 20 for a temp sensor, etc.).

are you sure that's right pin18 and pin20 are sensor grounds and should not be grounded to the engine and pin19 is pre wired to serial plug
now im really confused

thanks for the reply just read the amended manual and yes it now makes sense,innovate just need to do the same with there lc2 manual as it tells you to earth it direct to the unit it is supplying,thanks neil
