Coolant temp problem
This is the first time I have had to use this forum, so bear with me. I have installed a V3 Microquirt system to 2.5 V6 Ford Duratec using a EDIS system for ignition the engine runs extremely well and have little issues with it other than it always wants to run rich, I think the problem lies with the coolant temp, I have selected the ford coolant sensor in the drop down box and selected Celsius and it's perimeters but what I notice is the coolant temp figures are back to front on the Tuner Studio dashboard also they are in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius. When the engine is cold the dash board starts of at 325F when up to operating temp it reads 180F , all other sensors appear to behave correctly I also have replaced the coolant sensor.
What can I try next?
Thanks in advance
Alan

Just a little thought, you've calibrated the sensor in TunerStudio haven't you? checked the resistance values to see if their in the ball park?... the Fahrenheit issue is in your Project Properties, you need to select Celsius.

Thanks for that, but was messing around tonight and tried the Mazda one and bingo the temp corosponds with coolant temp now, no matter what I do im stuck on Fahrenhieit scale but not relly botherd as long as it's working the rest of the system.
Don't know if anyone on here has ever fitted this system to the Duratec V6 before but it turns the engine into an animal

Couple of pics to help with the Celsius malarkey! Then in this dialog box, click on the Settings tab
Mazda coolant temperature will be fine, the coolant doesn't know whether it's a Ford or a Mazda!
Mike
PS Also you can change in the Calibration window too.
Re: Coolant temp problem
That's where I changed it in Properties, also in the sensor window, but still reads in Fahrenheit? also another question on coolant is I need to shut off the start up enrichment sooner, I assume I adjust that in the appropriate window I think default is 160F because it's highlighted in green I would like to adjust 100F how do I do that?

Re: Coolant temp problem
re Celsius, start a new project, and import your Microsquirt controller settings, that should fix the Fahrenheit issue.
You've lost me on this one, but you can create any table values for temperature, Other Tables > Temperature Table Values in #1 to #10 boxes, then alter the ASE % & tapers so they don't add anything beyond your designated cut off temperature.also another question on coolant is I need to shut off the start up enrichment sooner, I assume I adjust that in the appropriate window I think default is 160F because it's highlighted in green I would like to adjust 100F how do I do that?

Re: Coolant temp problem
Just to let you know that worked so I am reading in Celsius at last. Now trying to get my head round the WUE settings as I think the default settings are bonkers, why do they start off at 180% @ -40c ? and still 60% @ 87c ? I Know I can alter all these figures and cut the WUE off whenever I choose, just wondered why they were so daft or are they?

Re: Coolant temp problem
I don't think they are daft, they are based on typical engines. If you look at EFI servicing manuals you'll see similar figures. At -40ºC you'd expect a high level of enrichment, but in a modern combustion chamber with high compression and squish, it'd be less. A little example taken from a website, bottom of page 3, which is similar to my service manual Yamaha GTS1000 diagrams.
I think the WUE process is best tweaked using a wideband sensor, but obviously not at -40ºC!
