The MegaSquirt Project has experienced explosive growth other the years, with hundreds of new MS installations occurring every week - a phenomenal success! MegaSquirt has been successfully used in all aspects of Internal Combustion engine applications including R&D, Industry, Race, and Research. The MS project has transformed itself from a simple R&D project into a full-featured mature engine control system. To reflect this the support structure has also changed to meet the needs of MegaSquirt Users.
Moving forward, the R&D forums for MegaSquirt project are in a read-only mode - no new forum posts are accepted.
However the forums will remain available for view, they still contain a wealth of information on how MegaSquirt works, how it is installed and used. Feel free to search the forums for information, facts, and overview. While the R&D forum traffic has slowed in recent years, this is not at all a reflection of Megasquirt users, which continue to grow year after year. What has changed is that the method of MegaSquirt support today has rapidly moved to Facebook, this is where the vast majority of interaction is happening now. For those not on Facebook the msextra forums is another place for product support. Finally, for product selection assistance, all of the MegaSquirt vendors are there to help you select a system, along with all of the required pieces to make it complete.
For engine experimenters, the MicroSquirt® PCB is offered in a module format with enhanced capabilities to be plugged into other boards. This is the place to discuss the MicroSquirt Module.
ive got the bike tuned as well as it can be with carbs but its not good enough so I want to step up my game to EFI and run a fuel only (for now) setup
the bike:1994 zx9r
ign: cdi wasted spark
from the reading ive done, I know I can not just hook the micro up to the neg side of the coil for a rpm input. So I need to hook directly up to the VR sensor, will this work and what wire do i wire it to on the micro? this is what the stock kawi timing wheel looks like and the sensor that reads from it.
just thinking out loud but I have the rpm wire that the tach on my bike reads from hooked up to my wideband (zetronics) box to data log air fuel and rpm and that doesn't affect the wideband box at all so could I just hook up that tach output to one of the option wires?? and presto?
The tach wire is probably your best bet, although I'd hook it to VR+, which has a higher input impedance and is less likely to interfere with the signal.
ok just had some time tonight and i hooked the tach wire to the VR+ the vr- the option+ and the option- and none of them read any sort of rpm signal. used a voltmeter on the tach signal after trying to hook up the wires to see what it was giving out and it seemed to be 6.xx volts that got lower the higher i reved the bike, any advice?
something I should note, I did mess with the settings in tunerstudio (rising edge ect.) and still nothing, next im going to hook directly to the pickup sensor.
didnt hook up to the pickup sensor yet, think about a dyna2000 and hooking up to the tack out on that. also did some reading and found out the wideband zeitronics box im using can only "see" square wave rpm signals, knowing this ill try to hook the micro up differently and mess with the settings in ignition set up
