Pickup / Crank sensor wiring

Trying to think ahead here!

Im using an original pickup plate with 2 pickups & a single tooth wheel. I noticed my pickups have 2 wires EACH, so 4 wires going to the connecting plug. The uS has 2 wires for input so how do i know which wire from each pickup will signal the 2 input wires in uS?

I should also mention the 4 wires from the sensors/pickup's go directly to the original igniter

Actually, the uS has *6* input wires - OPTO+ &-, VR1+ & -, VR2+ & -. If you are running dual trigger, then one pair of wires goes to VR1+/-, the other pair to VR2+/-. If you plan on using just the one pickup coil (with a different wheel), then the wires go to VR1+/-.

Cool Don, i think im a little confused by a couple of things. from THIS link/diagram i can't see a 'VRIN2-' but i see VRIN2+, VRIN1- & VRIN1+. So that leaves 4 wires into 3?

At the top of that page it reads: "This archive document primarily applies to older V2 and V1 MicroSquirt® controllers.
For the latest V3 MicroSquirt® controller documentation, click this link: V3 MicroSquirt® Quickstart Guide"

Drilling down, you come to the wiring page; about 1/4 down the page you see that Pin 21 is VR2-.

Thank god for that!! I was wondering if i had a friday evening unit! lol. That explains why i only have 2 black unit ground wires as well

It seems more relevant already!

For future reference some thoughtful person has wired my VRIN1 + & - to the correct pins but used grey sheilded wire with a red & black wire down it, same with VRIN2 + & -

Dunno why it had to be sheilded though, i thought the onle sheilded stuff needed to be the uS injector & coil ground wires?

It doesn't need to be shielded, but it is a really convenient way to use one wire to run two conductors ...
