MicroSquirt.com read only forum (Jan.15,2018)

Hi, i've just finished installing microsquirt in to my car, i've got Port Checker and Tuner Studio installed, but for the life of me, i can not get microsquirt to talk with my laptop.
Ive got a serial cable and done a loopback test, that worked fine.
Ive got power and good grounds on the microsquirt unit.
When i do a port check, my computer finds the serial connection, but says 'no connection could be made', at both 9600 and 115200 baud. I have already set the com port to 115200 baud, but for some reason my computer still can not find microsquirt.
If i try using Tuner Studio to find microsquirt using its communications/settings pop-up, it finds absolutely nothing. If i test the port that microsquirt is connected to using the same pop-up, it just says 'test failed'.
Ive tried changing ports but the results are the same what ever i try, nothing.

Hi Lance, these are the results i got:

1. set ecu type to 2 (microsquirt)
2. fully connected all cables and sockets
3. port seems to work fine, done a loopback test without any problems at all and thepin numbers match on both connectors
4. power supply is 12v (measured at AMPSEAL pin 1)
5. all the pin numbers match (im using a SWEEX cable)
6&7. tried loading new code onto microsquirt, but my computer still cant find it so there is no way to load new code.
8&9. Tuner Studio is already installed and set to find microsquirt, but still nothing.
10. no code has been changed because my computer stiil cant find microsquirt.

Every time i use Port Checker (even if i change the port that my serial cable is on), it will find my serial cable port but cannot connect, this is why im struggling to load new code. I did think that if i could load new code onto it, that might sort things out, but i just cant get my computer any microsquirt to communicate.

Did this communicate the first time you plugged it in ? If not, how could you change the ecu-type ?

I've just come out to the car, i haven't changed anything with the computer or the car since earlier, and on my first attempt at connecting with megasquirt everything worked. I have no idea why i wouldn't connect for the last few days especialy as i haven't changed anything since my last attempt earlier.

Hi, sorry to drag up an old thread but this is exactly the same issue im having down to the last detail except mine still will not connect, first time i tried it after wiring it connected no problem, it was late in the day so i packed up and went home, came in following morning and nothing, cannot connect at all i have tried all the above things port check etc cant change firmware as cannot find the microsquirt, tried leads, different laptops in fact everything my weak and feeble mind can think of and find on the net
Help please
