Kawasaki KFX450R setup questions

For the SAE Formula team at school I'm trying to set up a 2008 Kawasaki KFX450R single cylinder 4 stroke to run on microsquirt MSII rev 2.90500. So far i have been able to get a consistent RPM signal when dual spark is set to "no dual spark" and the number of cylinders set to 1. My next logical step is to attempt spark (direct drive) from a known good CBR600 pencil coil, but whether I use IGN1 or IGN2, I can't get anything. If I change the dual spark setting to anything else I lose the RPM signal. Should I stick with the CBR coil and try to build the circuit to use both IGN drivers to fire it every 720 or should I just use a GM waste spark unit with the wires running to the same plug? The .msq and .msl are included.

Since you are getting sync you should be getting spark and fuel. You don't want to be combining IGn1 and 2 - the non-Dual Spark mode only puts out on Ign1. If you want to use dual spark mode then I would switch to code vsn 3.780. But first I would stick with what I had and see why I'm not getting spark. Are you getting fuel (see if you can feel or hear it clicking during cranking or pull out an injector and see if it squirts) ? Can you put a scope on the spark output from the Ampseal connector and see if there is any pulsing while cranking ?

Is this a V2 Microsquirt, or the new V3?

It's V2.1 Maybe I'm wiring it wrong, because the Microsquirt was a donation to our team from diyautotune.com its only the board, there was no amp seal connector or housing that came with it. therefore I've had to solder every connection to the board. In the main wiring page it shows only one wire coming from the amp seal connector (pin 12) on the actual microsquirt board it's labeled as pins 48 and 50. Do I connect pins 48 and 50 to each side of the coil or do i give 12v to one side and pin 48 or 50 to the other?

You have a Microsquirt MODULE, not a Microsquirt. This is a bare-board ECU meant to be mounted on a carrier in an enclosure, and does NOT include the high-energy spark drivers. I really hope you haven't damaged the board or processor trying to drive a coil ...
Follow the info links to the module on the main page of this site, and start reading.
