AMPSEAL crimpers

Post by 24c »

I am trying to make a short loom adaptor to convert my motorcycle OEM wiring to a cased MicroSquirt compatible set up, and my question is... has anyone used a generic crimper to make up an AMPSEAL loom? The Tyco ones are huge money over here, and I tried with my uninsulated motorcycle sets, but they are all too wide and damage the snap in locator.

I have seen some TYCO SAHT types on fleaBay that are thinner, but unsure whether they will work.

Have you tried a good set of open barrel crimpers? I'm not sure that will work, but IF my memory is working, the Tyco pins are pretty similar to an open barrel crimp.

Good luck!

Clint, thanks for that, I've googled "open barrel crimper" and there are a selection out there, and haven't quite made up my mind which ones, but at least I have a direction now. 8)

PS When I find some, I'll post the results here too.
