I can't get communication with Microsquirt. Reviewed the manual. Checked things step by step. I'm getting the spinnies and don't know what to check next. 12 volt, ground, phono plug conected. Bootload wire grounded. 12 volt on, start bootloader program, no communication. Feedback test OK. Portchecker OK. EGO set to two. I need some fresh ideas.
Thank you

Please post a screen shot of the error message you get when trying to reload the firmware. That often has some valuable clues about what's wrong.

Please have patience. I generally only check this board once a day. The "ERROR: Unknown error status response, e=0x53" message usually happens when you are using the wrong COM port. On many computers for some reason COM3 is a fake diagnostic port that echoes back everything you send it, and 0x53 is the first command sent to start the firmware reloading process.

CM,

You might also check the connection troubleshooting advice here:

http://www.megamanual.com/connect.htm#ms2

That is for MS-II which has somewhat different hardware, but all of the PC computer instructions apply.

Lance.

I tried 1-9 com ports. Went though all steps in manual except circuit board testing. Nothing.

Are you using a built in serial port or a USB adapter?

Built in serial port.

Check the Device Manager and scroll down until you find "Ports (COM and LPT)". How does the listing for the built in serial port appear there?
